Funny
I teach political science, which includes math. Sometimes this is how I feel the students must think.

My Husband at Play
I married my husband because he was really smart. I just ignored the general messiness and clothes everywhere and books in piles because he was really smart (and cute and a good kisser and gentle and kind and all the stuff you want in a guy).
Now I know that he is also a comic book artist. Enjoy the attached comic strip he and the Princess made while I was away.

Yankee Fan
Oh yeah, the Yankees are SOOOO evil. It's amazing how evil they are. After Katrina, the NFL gave 1 million dollars to Louisiana, the Yanks gave 1 million on their own. And last year, after the VTech shooting, they gave 1 million dollars to a fund at the school for victims. And this year, the big guns from the team showed up to play the VTech baseball team. Oh yeah, they suck, so bad, they are so evil, jeesh.

New Gym
I joined a new gym this week. For a couple of reasons: first, it's 5 minutes from my house (which is a 15 minute drop in commuting time); second, it's brand new so it's awesome (machines are great, colors are great, not dirty at all); third, the husband wanted a switch and I am a good wife; and finally, but perhaps most importantly, I love the mayor (wink).
But today I went at 530am for my first group exercise class, which is exactly the same as the Club: body pump. While the product was the same (you know, like Pepsi is a cola and so is Coke) the delivery was SO much better. I loved the teacher, I loved the music, I loved the class, I loved loved loved it. So, just like Coke is so much better than Pepsi (smile)...
Paul went later and saw the mayor working out and apparently he is very buff. So, that's good. I mean, if you're going to have a mayor you should have a buff one.

Famous Famous
The other night I was on KSL Local News at 630pm being interviewed about Eliot Spitzer. I figured there were probably 3 people watching, and those were my Utah family who had to watch because the Princess was with them being babysat and they felt obliged. But yesterday I received all sorts of emails from really random people...so that was kind of cool.
Again, if only I were six feet, weighed 100 lbs and had blonde hair, I swear I'd have a career on television.

Eliot Spitzer
Well, how the mighty have fallen.
My good friend who is an Obama fan called today and said, "a woman just wouldn't do this." And I said, yet again, another reason why I am voting for Clinton. And she said, well, I won't repeat it as it was bad language.
Smile.

Interesting Note
Today the husband and I filed our taxes. It was nice seeing how much money we get for Elizabeth. America loves the children. Anyway - we were chatting about the rebate and our accountant said that the rebate will have to be paid back next year dollar for dollar.
WTF?

Disproportionate Response
My husband has suggested that my reaction to Hillary Clinton is disproportionate...or that I may be losing perspective.
I am rooting for Hillary Clinton like I root for the Yankees or the Orange, with every last visceral part of my soul. I have constructed vast conspiracy theories about Obama in my mind and I am often heard making comments about people with penises about the house. Luckily for our marriage Paul is also a Clinton supporter while not being so opposed to people with penises, or we might be divorcing soon.
Is this the wrong response? Have I gone completely around the bend? Intellectuals all around me say Obama is the guy, he's the next JFK, he's the hero...blah blah blah. Why? Because they have a single-issue approach to politics and believe that someone who voted for the war in Iraq should be shot (umm, here's some evidence of perhaps my loss of perspective). My response to this is I am from New York and any Senator from New York who didn't come out hawkish after 9/11 would be wrong; oh and I as a presidential scholar actually believe in a strong executive so I've got no problems with that either (I just want the strength behind the policies I believe in); oh and I am a woman. And for the love of God, since time immemorial men have been running this planet and we are now in an environmental crisis and we are now on the brink of another world war and we are now treating the poor worse than ever and religion has been allowed to dictate to every political decision forever - so, yeah, I'm tired of the penises and I am rooting for the woman.
And for the sake of my daughter, who I will teach that women can do anything, I am rooting for the woman.
Not at all out of perspective.
*** Follow up: yesterday on Jack Radio, I heard a commercial that said something along the lines of "if you listen to our radio station we will make all those promises Obama makes" ... hmmm, my opinion on him seems to be seeping albeit slowly into the popular culture ... seriously, doesn't he remind anyone else of that guy in high school who was full of crap??? Never mind that when he joined a shot drinking showdown he drank water ... PUHLEASE!!!

Primaries
I'm just sitting here watching the primaries come in...yeah Rhode Island!!! I always knew I liked that state!!! McCain is delivering the MOST boring speech I have ever heard, even the people who are there for him are bored. They don't know when to clap. Someone hire this man a speech writer so we don't have to listen to this crap all summer! And, holy crap, how many times do we have to look at his wife who looks like a Barbie doll?!? Oh no wait, the song they are playing is Johnny Be Good...bleh!!!! Oh and now the Bushies are having him over for dinner.
Well at least we're pretty sure we'll get a Senator, which we haven't had since LBJ...and while many may hate LBJ, he got more done legislatively than most presidents in history. And as a fan of Congress, I'll be happy about that!
And, has anyone else noticed that Clinton is the Republican of the Democratic party, she wins all the rural areas. Does it occur to anyone that this might actually be a good candidate to run?

Dinner With Friends
The husband and I have a couple of friends whom we met when we first moved here. I'm not sure we've seen them alone in years. They have given us a TON of stuff for Elizabeth so we decided to have them over to say thank you. We had a great dinner, great conversation, and realized we really enjoy seeing our friends in one on one situations. And, we have all these great dishes and a great dining room, so we really should do this more.
It was great.
It was great.
